Petite Messe Solennelle by Gioacchino Rossini

Saturday 4 July 2020 at 7.30 pm

Church of St. Mary, Lastingham

Organ:          Geoffrey Coffin

Keyboard:    Paul Laidlaw

Soprano:      Jenny Bianco

Alto:              Linda Suggitt

Tenor:           John Gill

Bass:            Ed Sturmheit

The Petite Messe Solennelle demonstrates Rossini's ability to write beautiful melodies with an unfailing sense of colour and drama.  Its title exemplifies his characteristic wit, as it is, of course, neither petite nor solemn!  It's certainly fun!
