Our repertoire

The choir's repertoire leans towards classical and sacred music, but the singers are equally at home with popular and folk music and songs from musicals.

Recent concerts have included:

»Music from the Americas
- the Chichester Psalms (Bernstein) and Missa Criolla (Ramirez)

»Music from Twentieth Century France
- works by Saint-Saens, Debussy, Faure and Durufles 'Requiem'.

»Music for holy Week (in Lastingham Church)
- contrasting music from Tallis and Byrd to Chilcott and Rutter.

»One hundred years of English Choral music
Pieces by Vaughan Williams, Howells, Holst. This concert also included a new work specially commissioned for the choir. It was a setting of Stevie Smith's poem 'The River God' for the choir and guitar, by Steven Dodgson. we were delighted to welcome the composer to a rehearsal and the performance.

»Baroque favourites
- Vivaldi's 'Gloria' and Handel's 'Dixit Dominus'

All works are sung in their original language and we have experience of singing in French, Russian, Spanish, Hebrew and Finnish - as well as English and Latin!
